Dr. Brahma Sharma is Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is a cardiologist and has provided volunteer services extensively throughout the world. Dr. Sharma points out in his talk the problems of stress and anxiety in our society and the importance of meditation in managing and mastering our minds.
Dr. Sharma reviews the history of meditation and the science that supports meditation and mindfulness. He explains the basic types of meditation and also reviews the basic neurophysiology of meditation. He discusses the importance of practice of Metta Meditation, practicing compassion and being mindful of aware of living in the present moment.
