Adoption of Communities - Initiatives by SSSIO UK
The SSSIO United Kingdom embarked on two national initiatives this year, adopting various communities in Sri Lanka as well as supporting SSSIO Nepal in the construction of a girl's hostel at the Sri Sathya Sai School in Pokhara, Nepal.
On 16th June 2019, thanks to the generosity of devotees in the United Kingdom, the SSSIO of Sri Lanka inaugurated a "Deep Well Project" at Sri Vallipuram (Eastern Region), benefiting over 500 villagers. Previously, 86 families had to walk long distances to obtain water, often resorting to drinking contaminated water from polluted lakes.
Socioeconomically marginalised girls living in rural parts of Nepal are vulnerable to human trafficking. To combat this, the Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation Nepal is building a children's orphanage, and a Sri Sathya Sai School at Pokhara. The SSSIO United Kingdom is sponsoring the girl's hostel.
