Serving the Children of the Couva Community, Trinidad and Tobago
SSIO members of Trinidad and Tobago began the 95 Communities Adoption project with a programme called “The Guardian Angels of Children,” which aims at providing assistance to underprivileged children of the Couva/California community. They have been working closely with more than 100 children of three schools in the community.
SSIO members have provided school materials such as stationery, school books, (sports) uniforms, book bags, footwear and belts to the children.
A health and wellness camp was also organised in one of the schools on 10th March 2018. More than 40 volunteers, including healthcare professionals, rendered selfless service to 80 people. In addition to comprehensive health checks (dental, eye screening), professional family planning and parenting counselling were provided. Free medications and eye glasses were provided to the needy.
