Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said true education is like a bird with two wings. One wing is traditional school subjects for making one’s way in the world. The other wing fosters the emergence of human values in thought, word, and deed, which is the mark of good character. When the human values of truth, right conduct, peace, love and nonviolence are integrated with the acquisition of traditional subject matter skills, the student is on the path to true happiness in life.

People ask how to integrate human values with traditional school subjects? First the teacher makes a plan, a lesson plan, in a traditional school subject area for the age of students in his or her class and adds activities or discussion items about the human values related to that particular subject. The teacher then puts the plan in action with his or her students in class.

The Sathya Sai Schools Lesson Plans Hub is a project of the SSSIO Education Committee. The EC invites Principals of Sathya Sai Schools and Directors of Institutes of Sathya Sai Education (ISSE) to share examples of lesson plans that integrate human values with traditional school subjects at different grade levels.
