SSSIO Relief Initiatives for COVID-19 Pandemic
May 2, 2021
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Om Sri Sai Ram.
The Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO) has been actively supporting various relief efforts around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020. These relief efforts include medical supplies, food, water, health education, and counselling.
India is presently affected by unimaginable tragedy due to the COVID pandemic, afflicting many people. The rate of infection and resulting deaths are climbing exponentially at this time. The official death toll was a staggering 16,730 between Apr 25–May 1, 2021, as reported by the Johns Hopkins University. More than 215,000 people have lost their lives due to COVID in India, as of May 1, 2021 according to the CDC.
Medical oxygen is in critically short supply in India, with an estimated daily need of 2 million oxygen cylinders, far exceeding domestic production capacity. To address this need, the SSSIO is planning to help in providing oxygen concentrators and ventilators to the healthcare facilities in India, including the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS).
Following the teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, many members of Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO) have expressed a strong desire to assist our brothers and sisters in India. While India is the focus of this initiative at present, help will also be offered to patients afflicted by COVID in other countries, as permitted by local government authorities. The SSSIO is in contact with the SSSSO of India to offer assistance in this regard.
For more details on how to participate in this medical relief program for COVID patients through the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation (SSSWF), please visit our website HERE (please mention COVID Relief in your transmittal).
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said that sincere prayer is one of the most effective ways to assuage grief and suffering. Let us intensify our prayers to Swami to shower His divine blessings on those afflicted by the COVID pandemic around the world, for long-term relief and recovery from this illness.
Jai Sai Ram,
Lovingly in the service of Sai,
Narendranath Reddy, MD.
Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai International Organization.
