Dr. Kalpalatha Guntapalli is Professor and Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Ben Taub General Hospital and Program Director, Critical Care Fellowship, Department of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine. She is not only an excellent physician, but also an excellent teacher of physicians. Dr. Guntapalli provides a firsthand account of the results of the devastating flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas. She describes the unbelievably difficult situation as flood waters rose, flooding the lower floors of many of the downtown buildings including the major hospitals of the Texas Medical Center including her hospital.
